In
the Mysteries, we engage in the everyday experiences of life
with wonder and awe at the joys and beauty as well as with
reverence and commitment to learn at the pain and challenges.
When we are engaged in the Mysteries, we participate fully
in life with curiosity and passion, we look inward and outward
at the symbols and metaphors of this great epic story that
unfolds before us.
Through the ages, all the major religions had, and still have,
Mystery Schools. Usually through commitment, initiation and
ritual, mystics weave the threads of the spiritual and the
physical, the immanent and transcendent, into a rich and personal
tapestry informing and eluding them on life’s journey.
Often the mythic lore and archetypes found in cultural arts
are filled with meaningful clues to this Mystery when we choose
to play.
Though
we all have our personal journeys, there are cross-cultural
and universal underlying themes, milestones, and developmental
and spiritual crossroads and thresholds that are part of life.
Mysteries Initiative invites creative ways to express
our Great Stories and Epic Heroes and Heroines, Nature's gods
and goddesses... from the Greek mythos to King Arthur’s
Round Table... and includes Harry Potter, Music stars, Sports
figures... all of these symbolic and archetypal figures that
live larger than life in our collective psyche. The path of
the Mysteries views everything we experience as part of our
spiritual journey toward wholeness because we are passionately
and wholeheartedly fully engaged in all the dramas and depths
of the human experience.
In our programs, we do this through experiential learning
in group activities using art, drama, play, music, dance,
story, adventure challenges. wilderness education... We are
creative in the moment as part of a group experience with
a focus more on being present than on the arts product or
outcome... We use games, challenges, problem-solving initiatives...
and we explore themes using visualization, mythic archetypes,
dreams and inner journeys in concert with our outer exploration
of the natural elements and materials in the world around
us. And, we have fun!
